Chöd: An Advanced Form of Shamanic Practice

I highly recommended the following link to information on Chöd, a practice that helps people heal their unconscious fears. Chöd is a blend of the Buddhist path to enlightenment brought from India, and an ancient form of Shamanic ritual that was native to Tibet. Chöd has long been a way of seeking direct and personal experiences of mind and divinity outside of conventional and institutional frameworks. It is an essay from the Dharma Fellowship; Chöd: An Advanced Type of Shamanism. This essay says it all. In Tibetan Chöd practice, the practitioner journeys into the night world--the dangerous regions of ghosts, spirits and the damned, to bless all souls lost for a time on the wheel of existence. It is practiced today primarily by yogis in their quest to gain Enlightenment by the shortest possible path. To learn more, read Vajrayana Buddhism: The Blissful Drum.
