Valentina Suzukei is one of Tuva's leading ethnomusicologists and the author of three books on Tuvan music. She recently published the results of a multifaceted study of Tuvan music culture. Suzukei's article takes a closer look at the Tuvan musical phenomenon and the revolutionary transformation of Tuvan musical life in the twentieth century. Tuvan folk music is deeply rooted in nature and shamanism and considered a unique contribution to the evolution of human culture. Images of nature occupy a central place in the artistic creations of the Tuvans. Singing a holographic picture of the natural environment is a unique shamanic art form.
